Miami-Dade County is preparing for its largest Independence Day celebration with the return of the annual Fourth of July event at Tropical Park. The free community gathering, presented in partnership with TelevisaUnivision, is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will feature a full day of family-friendly entertainment, culminating in a spectacular fireworks show.
Tropical Park, located at 7900 SW 40th Street, will be transformed into a festive landscape with live music, a wide variety of food vendors, a Carnival Cruise Line Fun Zone for children, and several themed photo opportunities. The day will conclude with a dazzling patriotic fireworks display over the park’s lake.
A star-studded lineup
The celebration will be hosted by acclaimed Univision radio and television personality Javier Romero, who will be joined by on-air talents from 107.5 AMOR, MIX 98.3, and N+ Univision 23 Miami. The main stage will feature a diverse lineup of musical acts, including Whiskey All Stars, Celebrity Band 305, Giselle, Orlando Mendez, and the internationally recognized band Piso 21.
This is more than an annual celebration; it is an opportunity to reflect on the values that unite us as a nation and to reaffirm our enduring commitment to uplifting the fundamental rights and freedoms guaranteed to all of us under the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The event will also include ceremonial moments, with the Sons of the American Revolution presenting the color guard. Attendees will hear remarks from local dignitaries, including Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami-Dade County Board Chairman and District 10 Commissioner Anthony Rodriguez.
The partnership with TelevisaUnivision highlights the event’s deep connection with the region's diverse population. Ismar Santa Cruz, TelevisaUnivision Sr. Vice President of Audio, emphasized the importance of the celebration for the local community.
Celebrating Miami's place in America's story
The "America 250" theme provides a backdrop for reflecting on South Florida's unique history. Long before Florida joined the United States in 1821, the land was home to Indigenous peoples, including the Tequesta, Miccosukee, and Seminole Tribes. Over the past two centuries, the region has transformed into a bustling metropolitan area, now known as the Gateway to the Americas, a title that reflects its rich cultural heritage and global connections.
Free public events like the Tropical Park celebration are a cornerstone of community life, particularly in a city with a rising cost of living. In Tinley Park, a similar spirit of community celebration was recently seen when they debuted Country Fest with ribs, music and fireworks. They offer residents a chance to connect and celebrate shared values and experiences without a financial barrier. The event is produced by the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department (PROS) with support from a long list of sponsors, including the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade, AETNA, Uber, Carnival Cruise Line, and Florida Power & Light Company.
In addition to celebrating Independence Day, the event will also mark the official start of Park and Recreation Month. This national initiative, organized by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), encourages people to explore and appreciate their local parks and recreational opportunities. Miami-Dade County offers a vast park system, with over 300 parks across 40,000 acres, providing countless ways for residents to beat the heat and stay active.
